SHEPHERD SCHOOL FACULTY RECORD FOR GRAMMY WINNING PRODUCER
SugarHill Recording Studios and Shepherd School of Music Chief Engineer Andy Bradley was busy recording on location with six-time Grammy nominated producer Judith Sherman the past week in Duncan Recital Hall at the Shepherd School of Music.
Sherman has numerous accolades including the winner of the 1993 Classical Producer of the Year Award. She is one of the top-noted recording figures in the world of contemporary classical music and has worked alongside prominent composers such as Steve Reich, Charles Wuorinen, Elliot Carter, Christopher Rouse, Shulamit Ran, Phillip Glass and Terry Riley.
The project consists of four compositions by 1994 Grammy winning composer Libby Larsen. She is considered one of America¹s most prolific and most performed living composers holding an impressive catalogue of over 200 works. The list of musicians consisted of Curtis Macomber, violin; James Dunham, viola; Norman Fischer, cello; Deborah Dunham, double bass; and Jeanne Kierman, piano. Fischer, Kierman and James Dunham are all professors at The Shepherd School of Music. The pieces were recorded at The Shepherd School of Music at Duncan Recital Hall on September 15th, 16th and 17th and have an expected release date by early 2005.
