Welcome to Dance Marathon! Our purpose... 2003 Stayin' Awake for Kid's Sake (or SAFKS) was the first annual Dance Marathon at Rice University to raise money for Memorial Hermann Children's Hospital, the local Children's Miracle Network-affiliated hospital in the Houston area. Children's Miracle Network (or CMN), which began in 1983, is an international non-profit organization that is associated with 170 children's hospitals throughout North America. Through telethons, radiothons, and dance marathons, CMN has raised over $2 billion for its hospitals. What makes CMN special is their guarantee that money that is raised locally stays local and their commitment to treating every child, regardless of affliction or the family's financial status. The future... Stayin' Awake for Kid's Sake's success is dependent on the members of the Rice community and Houston area.
