Who we are

Rice Linguistics Society (RLS) is a student-run organization at Rice University that publishes the Rice Working Papers series and organizes a biennial workshop on linguistics. Additionally, RLS hosts a poster session during the Biennial Rice Symposium on Linguistics (next occuring in spring 2010). And of course, RLS is closely connected to the linguistics department at Rice University. Membership is open to all (undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty of any department), whether or not you are affiliated with the department.

Here's what's new for fall 2008:

Design for RLS T-shirt (9/29/2008)

RLS is seeking design submissions for its T-shirt. So, get creative and come up with a design that you'd like to wear. Our lovely social co-chair Ann Olivo is heading up this project, so please e-mail submissions to her at amo1 'at' rice.edu

RLS Dues (9/29/2008)

Dues to join RLS are $10 for the year. Treasurer Katie Nelson is collecting them now. If you need to contact her to arrange a time to meet, she can be reached at katienelson 'at' rice.edu We'll send out more reminders as needed, but let's all please turn in our dues in a timely fashion.

Call for papers: Rice Working Papers in Linguistics

We're currently at work on the first volume of our working papers. Please see our Working Papers page for more information. The new deadline for submissions is October 1, 2008.

NWAV 37

RLS members are busy assisting with the arrangements for NWAV 37, to be held in Houston Novermber 6-9, 2008.
