Generating Ideas

Once you have chosen a topic you are interested in writing about, the next step is to generate ideas about that topic that you can fit together to support a coherent thesis or argument. Before you decide on your thesis, you should allow yourself to go through at least one of the exercises suggested below in order to generate as many ideas as possible; you never know what kind of brilliant gem you might discover!

Remember that no one strategy works for everyone, so experiment and find the best for you. Once you've found techniques you like, you can save time on your next paper by using them right away, before you encounter writer's block
