Mid-Autumn Party Plan

Dear all,

As you know, Mid-Autumn Festival is coming and we plan to have a party to celebrate it.

When: Sep. 29, Satursday, From 6:30PM
Where: Student center, Farnsworth Pavilion
What: Chinese Mid-Autumn party
Who: all Chinese students and scholars are more than welcome to attend.
Purpose: To increase the relationship between the newcomers and old
ones. To give all of us a chance to know and communicate with
each other. To celebrate the traditional Chinese festival. To make
you have a good, enjoyable night.

After discussion, we plan to hold it in this way (There may have changes in
the future):
1) Everyone brings a kind of food (Cai is preferred, but it doesn't have to
be Cai), better cooked by yourself, to the party. Choosing this kind of form,

we just want everyone to have participation feeling, which agrees well with

our purpose. We will prepare some extra food, drinks, fruit, moon cake, and

so on.

2) Before or after having food, we will have some games, shows, and lantern
riddles(Deng Mi), which will give you some fun. We will also have lottery to send

out some small presents, and prize for good performance in our games, shows

and riddles. Also, we will have some special presents to those whose birthday is

Oct.1 and/or Aug. 15 (Lunar calendar), if you don't mind other people knowing your

birthday, :-) [For this, you need to tell me first, so I can prepare correspondingly].

3) After that, we will have a dancing party, which can be a traditional one or "BengDi",

or both, so long as you like.

Again, I'd like to point out that this party is for all of us, and it's a
good chance for us to know each other, especially for new students and
scholars to know old ones. After this chance we will not
have many this kind of chances because of the time and our study/research
burden, so I hope every student and scholar can attend it. You are also
welcome to come with your relatives and friends. If you are REALLY BUSY
and have no time to cook, you can buy one or just show up with nothing
at that time.

The only requirement, if it is, is that I need to know number of people
who will attend it in order to prepare beforehand. So please reply this
email at your earliest convenience if you can, though theoretically you can
tell me
before next Satursday. If you need a ride, please note that in
your email, and I will try to find one for you.

Finally, you are more than welcome to tell me any ideas about how to hold
the party, the form of the party, which kind of games to be played in
the party, and so on. We will try to take your advice/suggestion in order
to serve you a better party. We also need some help on setting the spot,
and buying stuff, so if you can, please tell me.
