Stylistic Interpretations

When dealing with concepts of “style”, we need to bear in mind that stylistic interpretations, on their own, do not necessarily tell us about the meaning of the art. Moreover, recent advances in direct dating appear to challenge some of the older stylistic chronologies e.g. in Upper Palaeolithic Europe and North America.
