Match of the Season

August 24, 2002

For years, the faculty team has been winning our annual softball outings. This year, however, it appeared the graduate students might get a break. Due to campus construction and scheduled mosquito spraying, we were unable to find an available field large enough to permit softball. As a result, we substituted wiffle ball!

The graduate students leapt out to an early lead, but the faculty soon caught up. Braving slippery field conditions and Houston summer heat, the faculty once again emerged victorious. The final score: Faculty 9, Graduate Students 5. Gina Branton was the consensus choice for MVP on the faculty team with two runs scored and outstanding fielding.
