Session 8 (02/11)
SOUNDSPACE / VOICEMOVEMENT part 3
We warm up, play with shapes and sounds. We share, pass on, change them.
We discuss Cage and silence, scores as drawings (visual architectures),
the continuities and repetitions of contemporary (minimalist?) sonic techno music
and sampling. We reflect on Buto-Sha Tenkei (in town), butoh dance and silence,
and parallel dissonant music tracks.
The group records 15 minute sonic performance. Live mix by DJ Flux and Chris Aranda. Voices by Isabelle Ganz, Angeles, Gabriela, and Mycelia.
In the studio we record Angeles' poem about Alfonsina Storni, the woman who went into the deep blue. We project Serena Lin's "visible traces" and speculate on interior architecture and parallel dissonance (the distanced voice, the abstract gesture, the emotional affect of something that is not narrative (meaning) but has sense-impact.
The impact of the digital is not yet clear to us, although trance techno seems to relax muscles. The body grows light.
