Spain, 2004, 124 min.
Spanish with English subtitles

A runaway boy (Luis Castro) is drawn to Almeria, an isolated part of Spain where Spaghetti Westerns were once made, to solve the mysterious death of his father and the equally mysterious existence of his stuntman grandfather (Sancho Gracia, The Crime of Father Amaro). Meanwhile, a team of corporate predators (headed by Carmen Maura) have set their sites on turning the area into an Iberian Eurodisney. Cult director Álex de la Iglesia (Mutant Action, Day of the Beast, Dying of Laughter) turns his eccentric eye to Spain's spotty cinematic history for this tale of familial bonding and love of six guns.

"Álex de la Iglesia's charming comedy celebrates the resilient power of dreams, memories, and the movies" - Ed Morales, The Village Voice

"A Class Divided" - Movie Viewing & Discussion

RICE UNIVERSITY NAACP PRESENTS THE VIEWING OF A PBS SPECIAL .. "A CLASS DIVIDED"

One day in 1968, Jane Elliot, a teacher in a small, all-white Iowa town, divided her third grade class into blue-eyed and brown-eyed groups and gave them a daring lesson in discrimination. This is the story of that lesson, its lasting impact on the children, and its enduring power thirty years later.

Join us for a powerful viewing of this movement*.
