Off-campus events which promote Hispanics or the Hispanic culture will be publicized here with particular emphasis on ties to the Rice community. For example, an event may have special student pricing or may involve Rice Hispanic members. Please contact HACER with suggestions of events.

An End of Year Fiesta!

You are cordially invited to...An End of Year Fiesta!

HACER will be hosting a banquet dinner
this Saturday, April 30 at 7:30 pm at Tacos y Salsa
(located on Bellaire Blvd. between Chimney Rock and Hillcroft, their phone number is 713-446-3424)

For only $8 you will get all you can eat from a menu including :

bistek ranchero (cubed steak with peppers and onions in a red sauce),
cochinita pibil (shredded pork in a smooth, herby/nutty sauce),
enchiladas Suizas (cheese enchiladas topped with green salsa),
mole poblano (shredded chicken in a peppery, chocolaty sauce),
excellent arroz mexicano (Mexican rice) and frijoles (refried beans),
and to top it all off, a slice of heaven . . . fruit-filled Tres Leches cake!

For those 21 or older, we'll have $2 Coronas and $2 margaritas!

So forget about finals for a night and bring all your friends to a night of fantastic food, marvelous music, and cool company!

Israel Latino Cultural Institute of the Southwest event

On Thursday February 24 at 7:30 pm TILCIS, the Israel Latino Cultural Institute of the Southwest,
Will view a photo exhibit of Latin American Sephardic communities and have poetry reading of a few poets.
The event will take place at the Margolis Gallery of Congregation Beth Israel, 5600 North Braeswood.
Admission is free, however reservations are required, refreshments will be provided.
