With the rapid advance of information technology and the growing need to provide remote access to resources, libraries are exploring the development of online access to course materials traditionally available only from the Reserve Desk. Fondren Library has launched a pilot project to make faculty course reserve materials available in a standard format, PDF (Portable Document Format). Reserve materials are available to students for reading and printing from library terminals, campus workstations, and remote locations when they connect to LIBRIS or access the online catalog through WebCat.
Electronic Reserves also provides direct links from course lists in LIBRIS to individual faculty course home pages.
Access to articles and chapters in books will be provided in the next development phase, as long as agreement to follow the copyright guidelines is assured.
