Fridays we hold a lunchtime seminar series aimed at increasing understanding of deeper issues of Catholicism as well as incorporating Catholic teachings and values into everyday life. Speakers come primarily from outside Rice, though some Rice-affiliated speakers are featured, and they come from all walks of life (lay, religious, business, volunteer, professional, etc.). Catechesis

The Catechesis group works to form students in their faith intellectually and spiritually. COMPASS is a national network of college students who strive to grow in the Catholic faith and help fulfil John Paul II's call to New Evangelization on their own campuses. At Rice, as part of the Catechesis group, we hold weekly COMPASS Points Encounter meetings for students to spend an hour of the week reflecting on the upcoming Sunday's Gospel and deepning their intellectual formation. This semester, we are studying Pope Benedict XVI's encyclical, Deus Caritas Est. We meet at the Hanszen upper commons (in the room in the back right corner if you're facing the upstairs patio) from 6-7 pm. Grab dinner and bring it upstairs!

Prayer Group
Prayer Group provides students with frequent oportunities to participate in some of the most ancient devotional prayers of the Catholic Church. We pray the Rosary at 9 PM in the RMC chapel Monday through Thursday, we hold Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the CSC chapel from 1-7 PM on Wednesdays, and we pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet Fridays at Willy's Statue at 3 PM. We hope you take advantage of these special encounters with Our Lord.
