I am currently working on two projects that are the logical outcome of two major threads of my career: aesthetics and violence and their interrelations. I am continuing to collaborate with ex-political prisoners in Argentina on their own memory work involving theater in a central way. I am also working on theater and dance in Argentina related to what is known as the "creole grotesque." I am trying to find adequate ways to express the way in which this "gaze" which many Argentines consider uniquely theirs engages a worldview that precludes redemptive endings while dealing in brutal juxtapositions of illusion/disillusion. In both cases, I am interested in the multi-layered vehicle that some forms of art offer for the contemplation and elaboration of violence.
